Pink slips and rego inspections

eSafety checks done here and lodged with Transport for NSW

We can do your eSafety check, the electronic pink slip, and transmit the result straight to Transport for NSW. There's no paper certificate to carry and nothing to upload before you renew, because the result sits against your registration. If the vehicle doesn't pass, the workshop is in the same building, and the repair is quoted before it starts.

The state caps the fee. The table on this page has the current maximum for each type of vehicle.

When you need a pink slip

• Your registration renewal notice asks for an eSafety check before you can pay it
• Your rego is coming up and you'd rather not leave the inspection to the last week
• You have a motorcycle or a trailer due for renewal
• Repairs have been done after a failed inspection and the vehicle needs re-checking
• The car is due for a service anyway and you want both done in the one visit

What an eSafety check involves

An eSafety check is a safety inspection, not a full report on the mechanical condition of the car. An inspector goes over the parts that keep a vehicle safe on the road: brakes, steering, suspension, tyres and wheels, lights and indicators, mirrors, wipers, the windscreen, seatbelts, the body and the exhaust. Anything leaking, cracked, worn past its limit or not working gets written up.

Pass, and the result goes through to Transport for NSW and you renew as normal. Fail, and you get a report of what has to be put right. The check covers roadworthiness on the day, so it doesn't replace a logbook service.

Our system can track when your registration is due, and we can schedule your services so the eSafety check happens as part of that visit. Say so when you ring and both go into the one booking, which saves the car making two trips.

What to tell us when you book

Tell us the make, model and year, and whether it's a car, a motorcycle or a trailer, because they're inspected differently and the capped fees differ. Say when the rego falls due so we can get you in before it does. If you already know something is worn or not working, mention it and we can quote the repair at the same time.

Questions about pink slips

What happens if my vehicle doesn't pass?

You get a report of what has to be put right. We quote the repair, and we will only proceed after you understand and agree to our quote. Brakes, tyres, lights and steering and suspension are common reasons a vehicle doesn't pass, and the re-check happens here once the work is done. Bigger jobs are on the mechanical repairs page.

Who sets the inspection fee?

Transport for NSW. The figures in the table are maximum fees for each type of vehicle, effective 1 July 2026, and a station can charge less than the maximum.

Do you inspect motorcycles and trailers?

Yes. Motorcycles and trailers have their own capped fees, listed in the table on this page.

Does the result get sent through automatically?

Yes. The check is lodged electronically against your registration, so there's nothing for you to carry or upload. Once it's in, you renew your registration as normal.
